The following are a list of significant benefits offered to IMHPJ Members:

• Recognition of your status as an International Mental Health therapist here in Japan. Clinical members are entitled to use IMHPJ Clinical Member after their names. Associate members, IMHPJ Associate Member.
• Being a part of a national organization of mental health professionals who provide a service to the national and international community here in Japan.
• Being listed on the IMHPJ Membership Directory, which lists the credentials and specialities of members, including a listing on the IMHPJ Website. Through this website, be available for clients who are searching the www for a therapist before they come to Japan or after they arrive. Available also to referral sources such as embassies, medical practitioners and schools.
• By signing a code of ethics, supporting ethical and professional practice by the international community of therapists here in Japan and providing a way for clients to have redress if they have complaints.
• Opportunities for continuing education and networking through the annual IMHPJ conference and workshops. Continuing education certificates issued.
• Branch meetings and functions for networking, professional development and socializing.
• Professional development opportunities provided both through the conference via the opportunity to present at a professional level as well as via involvement in the IMHPJ Board and its various subcommittees.
• An email network and newsletter which posts national and international activities, conferences, websites, books etc. Members can also utilse this email network to seek out consultation and referral-on information and to find other related resources.
• An opportunity to mix with professionals from a range of mental health disciplines (e.g., ...). Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy, School Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Mental Health Counselling, Child Psychology from all over the world including Europe, Asia, USA and Australia.
• An opportunity to supervise or to be supervised by other IMHPJ members including being involved in peer supervision groups and other clinical activities. A supervision network available for newly graduated therapists or those newly arrived to Japan/Asia.
• Being involved in a network of international therapists who can be called upon in the event of a natural disaster.
