SAWA, Chie
I am a Japan-born, U.S.-trained bilingual psychotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts, USA, and hold Japanese credentials as a Certified Clinical Psychologist and Certified Public Psychologist.
I work with adults navigating stress, anxiety, relationships, life transitions, cultural adjustment, work-related concerns, and life in Japan.
My practice may be a good fit if you are thoughtful, self-directed, value introspection, and want a reflective, collaborative space to better understand your current situation and consider meaningful next steps. My work is not only about talking through concerns, but also about helping you notice patterns, clarify what matters, explore possible ways forward, and take actual steps.
Having spent 11 years in the U.S. and served international communities in Japan since 2011, I understand the unique challenges and joys of living abroad. My approach is collaborative and integrative. I help you explore your needs, values, communication patterns, boundaries, and sense of belonging.
Please note that my practice is not the best fit for crisis intervention, urgent psychiatric needs, specialized trauma-focused therapy, or couples therapy. I do not offer employment, internships, or volunteer opportunities.
I believe the therapist-client relationship is key to a positive outcome. Therapy takes time, energy, commitment, and resources, and finding the right provider is essential. Please review my personal website for details about my approach, fees, availability, and scope of practice before making an inquiry. Inquiries are coordinated through my affiliated private practice office.
