O’SULLIVAN, Brian
As a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I specialize in helping adult individuals work through anxiety and OCD concerns. I aim to create a warm, accepting, and safe environment where you can freely explore your concerns, and we can collaboratively find ways to work through the challenges you're facing.
Though much of my work is focused on anxiety, I'm experienced in and may be able to assist with other issues: sadness, loneliness, anger, relationship concerns, career challenges, cultural adjustment, and life transitions.
While I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), I also draw from Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-focused, Client-centered, and Psychodynamic thinking. I'm also committed to ongoing training and professional consultation to ensure I continue to provide high-level, ethical care.
I earned my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Dominican University of California and became licensed in California in 2020. I first moved to Japan in 2009 and have been in private practice since 2021. My professional journey has taken me through various settings in the San Francisco Bay Area and Japan, including a non-profit mental health clinic, public and private schools, UCLA, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
