KNIVES, Teo
I am a clinical psychologist and counselor based in Kyoto. I work with the international, expat, and returnee community, accompanying individuals at different stages of personal and professional life, as well as in the process of cultural adjustment. Together, we address a variety of concerns, from daily life struggles such as relationships, stress, and work-life balance, to larger existential inquiries – finding long-lasting emotional fulfillment and choosing a meaningful path in life.
My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, trauma-related issues, panic attacks, chronic pain, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and personality disorders. In practice, I integrate an in-depth psychodynamic and existential approach with cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions as needed.
Having lived in four drastically different countries over the past decade, I have experienced firsthand the difficulties of psychological adaptation to a new culture, and the challenges of searching for a new purpose in an unfamiliar environment. My mission now is to help others overcome these obstacles and make them feel connected to their life here and now.
